many markets. However, with the entrance of Nintendo, Atari collapsed against the higher technology (not to mention the chapter technology). These days,
however, Atari faces many strong opportunities in the fields, as media becomes more interactive and video games become more a fact of life.
For one thing, Atari is getting very much into advertising -- this is a trend, in fact, many of the video game manufacturers are doing a great deal of
cross-promotion, especially with movies and consumer products. Advertisers, from Intel to Nestle, to Dunkin Donuts are paying companies such as Atari to place ads in the actual games (Takahasi, 2005).
In an Atari game, for example, each time the gamer plays, he or she can see a different ad in the same spot (Takahasi, 2005). As the advertising changes, and
are part of the games natural environment, there isnt the chance of over exposure (and turning off a potential audience because of too much advertising) (Takahasi, 2005). According to experts,
the added revenue from each advertising can be one or two dollars more net profit for the publisher -- for a $50 game (Takahasi, 2005). In addition to being a
potential money boon for Atari, this trend could also lead to some interesting cross-promotional ideas (as the advertisers might feature Atari games in some of their promotions as well.
Another opportunity with Atari has been the partnership with urban lifestyle guru Marc Ecko, who has had a huge hand in developing the
