One approach to education is called the ASSURE Model. The following paper summarizes this model and discusses how it can be helpful to educators. ASSURE ASSURE stands for
6 different steps in ensuring a good plan and the deployment of the plan. The A stands for the process of analyzing the learners, which are the students. The first
S stands for stating objectives and the second S for "Select instructional methods, media, and materials" (The ASSURE Model, 2006). The U stands for utilizing media and materials and the
R stands for requiring learner participation. The E involves evaluation and revision. In relationship to analyzing the learners an educator must understand their students and generally analyze various aspects
about the students both as a group and as individuals. The model suggests writing down information about the students such as their emotional and physical problems, their economic position, their
sex and ethnic group so that the instructor has a good base for understanding the diversity of the students being addressed in class (The ASSURE Model, 2006).
Once this is done the teacher can figure out reasonable objectives which involves the information being taught. An example is provided wherein "Example: Fifth grade
social studies students (Audience) will be able to name at least 90% (Degree) of the state capitols (Behavior) when given a list of states (Condition)" (The ASSURE Model, 2006). After
