Art therapy is a huge field - in this paper, well discuss art therapy in some forms among both children and senior
citizens. Well also discuss the research and outcomes of the investigations we come across. One issue of discussion is what, exactly, art
therapy is. In its most basic form, art therapy is defined as "a human service profession which utilizes art media, images, the creative art process and patient/client responses" to help
focus on a patients/individuals abilities, personalities, concerns, conflicts and interests (American Art Therapy Association, 2003). But art therapy is more than a
psychological approach toward dealing with ills; the practice involves human developmental and psychological theories that work with a variety of treatments including therapeutic, self-awareness, cognitive, transpersonal and so on (American
Art Therapy Association, 2003). Art therapy typically is used for and is effective for treatment of those who are impaired developmentally, medically, educationally, socially or psychologically (American Art Therapy Association,
