confusion between values whether or not they can be come ones objectives. According to many great philosophers, values are endemic to a persons interior landscape. What might be valued by
one member of society is not valued by another. In respect to architecture this has great bearing on sacred and secular spaces. What some people will see as a sacred
place, having and exuding presence others will treat with little regard. Therefore, values, in this definition cannot be an objective because it would be impossible to single out what would
be considered of value to all people. However, having said that, it is possible to create a space that the majority of the people will value and as such,
then this can become an objective. One of the worlds greatest wonders, Taj Mahal is an example of how the feeling of continuous space is created in Islamic architecture through
the repetition of given patterns and architectural elements. This, then, is architecture whose objective was to reflect the values of the people it would serve. However, ones values cannot always
be ones objectives. Consider that the architect of the Taj Mahal was not Arabic, nor shared the same religious beliefs. In this respect then, ones values were secondary to the
objective goal, which was to build the palace for those of the Islamic faith. Another example of values being the objective was in the construction of the domed Capitol
