did find enough supporting information about Carrs writing style and other aspects to gain a good idea of how Carr approached natural history, his literary style, his environmental ethic and
his particular fondness for the Sunshine State, which is Floridas nickname. The video itself is a tribute to Carr, who was a
University of Florida professor, as well as an author, and includes topics such as the beauty of black water, the value of swamps, why and how wilderness is being eliminated,
the appeal of snakes, and the aesthetic appeal of Spanish moss (Florida Department of Education, 2002). Carr approached natural history in his
own creative way by basically treating adventure as a state of mind - everything, to Carr was a unique adventure and a unique method of discovery (WUFT-TV, 2004). Because everything
was a new and fresh experience for him, his colleagues noted that "he animates natural history like no other writer before him" (WUFT-TV, 2004).
Carrs literary style has been described as that of a poets by his wife, who put together a book of some of his more inspiring writings (WUFT-TV, 2004).
The book, entitled Archie Carr: A Naturalist in Florida, features Carrs themes of Florida, as well as his view of and love for this state.
One such theme has evolved around the changes Florida has gone through, as he noted "The history of Florida has been a desperate sort of striving,"
