will have arrangement fees or other associated fees (Berges, 2004). These are part of the cost of the loan, but are not reflected in the interest rate. In some cases
a large arrangement or set up fee may be changed so that the headline rate of interest looks low. To ensure there is a clear measure and allow differently structured
loans to be compared the annual percentage rate takes into account all costs and then presents them along with the interest into a single figure that is equivalent to the
total annual amount paid expressed as a percentage of the loan (Berges, 2004). If we apply this to operations management there may be many different choices for financing
of different purchases with a number of different tactics used by the companies who may want to lend the money. The operations manager can look at similar term loans and
compare the APRs, which as we have seen not only include interest, but also all fees and disbursements and compare these in order to assess which is going to be
the most cost effective operations (Berges, 2004). If we apply this to real estate then there are often the use of mortgages or loans with a charge placed
in the real estate used. These loans will usually have a range of different fees and disbursements associated with them. Over a long period it may be difficult to compare
