In this paper, well explore what has made Apple so innovative and successful. Introduction Apple has been classified as an innovative company. But what, exactly, is innovation? Innovation is basically defined as the process in which new and/or improved products, procedures, materials and services are used and developed to make something more effective, stronger or better. Innovation tends to focus on creativity and inspiration. Merriam-Webster defines this much more simply, pointing out that innovation is the introduction of something new; or a new idea, method or device (Innovation, 2010). A good example of an Apple innovation is the iPod. Digital players were not unknown when Apple decided to throw its hat into the ring; but they were bulky, cumbersome and lacked good sound quality. What Apple did in this situation was to take existing technology and make it a lot better. It looked a lot nicer as well - Apple CEO Steve Jobs has always been focused on making Apple products stylish and nice to look at. In short, Apple innovates through its creativity, products, business model, customer experience, leadership - and its CEO, Steve Jobs. SWOT Analysis Strengths Strong liquidity position.
