Web site: (http://www.avoncompany.com/world/index.html): Mexico, Germany and Australia. We chose Australia to compare it (as an English-speaking site) to the U.S.A. The differences between these two are interesting. While the U.S.
site focuses mainly on discounts and sales (as well as "seasonal" types of make-ups and fragrances), the Australian site focuses mostly on product introduction and categories. There are likely several
reasons to this, one being that Avon has been a staple in the U.S. for almost a century, and most people are familiar with the Avon name. In Australia, however,
there are other more local brands that Avon must compete against, and therefore, the emphasis is going to be more on product introduction.
But what about the German and Mexican sites? Clearly, both of these sites are in the standard languages of both countries (Germanys in German, of course, and Mexican in
Spanish). The Mexican Web site relies on more attractive visuals than does the Australian Web site -- the beautiful woman wearing Avon make-up, and the make-up attractively displayed in various
shades. Again, unlike the U.S. Web site, the main page of the Mexican Web site doesnt focus on discounts or sales, but rather, on how the makeup can help add
to the beauty of the woman. This is interesting, because in the Latin culture, women are definitely prized for their beauty -- even if they arent beautiful to begin with,
