one time, project management involved the "make-a-list" school of thought. In other words, the manager would set the goal, make a list of tasks that needed to be completed to
reach that goal, then when the tasks were completed, would check them off. These days, of course, projects are much more complex and
contain many more moving parts. As a result, many project management tools are available to assist the project manager in reaching the goals. One of the more popular used is
the Gantt Chart. A Gantt Chart is a widely used took in project management, and helps the manager plan and schedule work, set
up tasks (and time periods it takes to complete those tasks) and provides a deadline as to when those tasks should be completed (Business Definition for: Gantt Chart). Developed by
Henry Gantt during the 1900s, the basic Gantt Chart is a lateral bar chart that provides a big picture of a particular project (Business Definition for: Gantt Chart).
In a traditional environment, a Gantt Chart is used as mentioned above - for scheduling tasks and defining time periods during which those tasks should
