The writer selected the Oriental White Stork, also known as the Oriental Stork, which is the common name of this species. The Oriental Stork, going under the binomial classification/scientific name
of ciconia boyciana, while the kingdom is Animalia - typical of all of the bird species. Storks, in general, have long legs and necks, large wings and powerful bills (Endangered
Animals). They are built for shallow water, having wide-spaced toes, complete with webbing (Endangered Animals). The Oriental Stork is listed as Endangered, due
to its small population; its decline is anticipated to continue as deforestation is on the rise, and wetlands are being reclaimed (Oriental Stork, 2011).
The Oriental Stork is located primarily in the Amur and Ussuri basins which are, in turn, located along the Russo-China border (Oriental Stork, 2011). This is a migratory bird,
which spends its winters in the lower Yangtze basin and southern China (Oriental Stork, 2011). Small numbers also spend their winters in North and South Korea (Oriental Stork, 2011). These
birds like tall structures as well as wetlands, and can be found in tall trees and artificial structures, such as telephone poles and electrical pylons (Oriental Stork, 2011). Along those
lines, the biome is primarily wetlands: This bird prefers open wetlands with islands of tree clumps, especially during nesting season (Oriental White Stork, 2011). The largest concentration of nests is
located in Amurskava Province and in the Sanjian Plain in the Honghe National Nature Reserve (Oriental White Stork, 2011). The birds also nest in groups (Oriental White Stork, 2011). Its
