that comes out, there are those who would tear it apart, and those who would support it wholeheartedly. In this paper, well examine
the concept of managerial accounting, also known as cost accounting - and well examine this as it is performed in the United States, by U.S. accounting standards. As with any
method of accounting, cost accounting has its defenders and detractors - but its not the purpose of this paper to determine if cost accounting is a good tool to use
or not. What we will try to do with this paper is define, as specifically as we can, what cost accounting is and
how its used; discuss who is involved with decisions about cost accounting; and then discuss operating budgets developed under this procedure. The end result will be a better understanding of
the method of cost accounting and how it works for certain businesses. As with any kind of accounting method, cost accounting may not be for all businesses - but as
