people getting damaged lungs. Acid rain, as a pollutant in Canada, is nothing to fool around with - it could be considered one of the main environmental issues of Canada
during the latter half of the 20th century. Yet acid rain is not necessarily the fault of Canada - in fact, to
the south, lies an equally culpable party; the United States. Because acid rain doesnt respect any type of international boundary, the U.S. is just as much at fault of getting
the pollutants into the air as Canada is (and perhaps even more so). But can abatement come about through some logical, economic
reasoning about factors such as efficiencies, equities and forces? In this paper, well attempt to examine acid rain based on these subjects, and through economic analysis, attempt to suggest other
ways that the Canadian government might have better luck at abating this problem. We chose acid rain for the paper because it
is a multijurisdictional problem that nicely reflects certain economic theories. Although acid rain has been blared in the headlines as a
horrible scourge on the environment, it would help us now to take a calm and rational look at what, exactly it is and its impact on the environment.
