to identify various tax issues. 1. Ms. Lunai is single and expects her 2003 taxable income to be $60,000. On October 1, 2003, she purchased 100 shares of Skyrocket
Inc. for $10 per share. On December 15, 2003, the stock traded at $15 per share. Does Ms. Lunai sell the stock before year-end or hold onto it in anticipation
of further appreciation? Though this isnt exactly the same case study thats been mentioned in the book, this could be considered "time
period variable planning," in other words, an activity recognizing that paying tax liability in the future would be less costly than taking on the current tax liability (Author Needed, Date
Needed). If she sells the stock before year-end, Ms. Lunai can expect to pay more of a tax liability now, than if she simply defers it to the future. Now,
its true that the stock could depreciate between now and then (which would mean less of a tax liability), but when it comes to something like this, a lot of
guesswork typically has to take place (that, and knowledge of both the company and the market). Either way, the answer to this
