is research - except what the corporate spy is researching is a competitors information. Corporate spies, as well see, can gain access to a competitors information through a variety of
ways and means, none of which are in the least dangerous (except to the company that is being spied on). Can corporate
spying be tied into accounting? Yes - as well examine throughout this paper, the corporate spy considers almost any information from a competitive standpoint good information. This is especially true
in accounting - accountants, after all, are the guards of a companys financial information. Theyre the ones that see the balance sheets, the revenue flows and - more often than
not - where those revenue streams are coming from. Although accounting isnt typically thought of as a target for corporate spies (at least, not in the media), accounting departments contain
a wealth of information that can assist any competitor, whether that competitor is attempting a hostile takeover, entrance into a new market or development of a new product.
