                                                    well as teaching them how to survive and manage their lives, academic dishonesty "has become a regular feature in most, if not all campuses..." (Aluede et al, 2006, p. 97).  
                                                
                                                    The irony of academic dishonesty in a higher education level is that colleges, universities and graduate schools are both institutions of higher  
                                                
                                                    learning -- and supposedly, of higher ethics. By the time a student is in college, its assumed that he/she already has a moral code drummed into his/her head from parents  
                                                
                                                    and from peer relationships in the lower grade levels. Because of this, things like the "honor code" are initiated on many college campuses. The honor code can take many forms,  
                                                
                                                    but in its most basic one, it involves the student signing a pledge to be respectful to peers and not to indulge in any dishonest behavior, such as cheating on  
                                                
                                                    tests, falsifying term papers and so on. Many campuses believe that the honor code is enough to deter academic dishonesty.         The problem  
                                                
                                                    is, the honor code is asking young adults who have little real live experience not to lie, cheat or steal. Once these youngsters (many of whom are older teen-agers, especially
