the mandatory drug testing, employee manuals are missing and the training room is being used. This immediate crisis, however, is a sign of underlying issues, namely that ABC Inc. doesnt
have a very solid, or organized, recruitment process in hand. Furthermore, Carl wasnt very diligent about following up on any of the activities necessary to bring these hires on board.
Many companies are finding that initiating a specific recruitment process, from advertising the job, through the hiring process and into the new
hires first days, and even weeks, on the job, can eliminate a lot of the hassles that can go with hiring new employees.
With this in mind, the best long-term strategy for ABC Inc. is to initiate such a system, to ensure that everything is in place for the new hires.
In the short term, however, Carl will probably have to do a lot of the leg work to fill in the gaps himself. Background
