of O.J. Simpson. Clearly, this is an organization that is promoting a book, but in some way not supporting its author. Regan to some extent admits that she wanted OJ
to write this book for personal reasons, but more likely than not, she is doing this to shamelessly promote her organization and to make money. Of course, organizations that exist
to make a profit must do so to appease its shareholders or simply to promote its own viability. Still, there are ethics that come up in this particular situation and
it warrants careful analysis. The decision to publish the book If I Did It hit the news when it was announced that Fox would do an interview with OJ Simpson
the week of the books release (Gough, 2006). Some people railed against Fox for the interview, but it is really Regan books that is the newsworthy organization of interest. Many
questions arise such as to the reason for the publication of the book and the ethics involved. When Judith Regan was criticized she reacted by saying that she did this
for battered women and that all she wanted to do was to get OJ to confess. Other people in the media would speculate that sometimes confessions come in this "what
if" format but that is really besides the point. The point is that the organization is newsworthy and more should be made of the fact that the publisher is using
an individual for profit and there are ethical violations which are apparent. For those who believe that OJ committed the murders, the decision violates ethics by allowing a murderer
