from low self-esteem, which manifests itself in a poor attitude and dismal scholastic ability. Contrarily, her brother Charles is particularly extraordinary in composition; in spite of their differences, the
two are as close as can be. The childrens parents, both of whom are brilliant scientists, form the foundation of a solid family; however, the father has been missing
for over a year when a time-travel experiment goes awry. A "dark stormy night" (LEngle PG) brings an unearthly stranger to the Murry home, beckoning them to partake in
an outer space quest that promises to locate the childrens missing father. It is all the odd yet enchanting occurrences that happen along the way -- encountering such characters
as Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, Mrs. Which, the Black Thing and Aunt Beast -- that makes LEngles book the literary classic that it has become. One of the strongest messages
