Philladelphia, or Philly as those that are more acquainted with the city call it, is the sixth largest in the United States when measured by the number of individuals that
live there. It is Pennsylvanias largest city and known for its racial and cultural diversity. Philly is the home to
whites, blacks, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, and practically every other race and culture known in the modern world. The Asian representatives of the city are particularly notable. The
various Asian groups often concentrate in small enclaves that for many would be hard to distinguish from the homelands from which these peoples immigrated if they were examined in terms
of the predominant languages being spoken and other cultural accoutrements. The specific sites, sounds, and experiences one encounters when visiting Philadelphia can vary
dramatically according to precisely where the visit occurs. Philadelphias inner city is astoundingly different from its surrounding suburbs, for example. In the heart of the city there is
a concentration of people, asphalt, and buildings and the smells and sounds that go along with the. The traffic congestion is almost unimaginable and the exhaust fumes practically overwhelming
the uninitiated. There is a constant roar of cars and trucks, the squeal of tires coming to an unanticipated stop and the grind of gears from the greenhorn semi
driver trying to negotiate a tight turn without taking out the vegetable stand on the corner. Driving in Philadelphia is certainly not for
