told that she was too black or not black enough (Juntunen & Atkinson, 2001). This is likely surprising to her many fans who see her as a beautiful woman. The
point Tyra is making is that the messages society sends should not be taken to heart. In respect to this supermodels speech, authors write: "We believe Tyra Banks administered a
form of therapy in that moment; she recognized her position as a role model, her demeanor was authentic, she demonstrated appropriate self-disclosure, and she instilled hope (especially in teens who
