the topic of David Elkinds work The Hurried Child. The following paper presents a summary of the work. A Summary of The Hurried Child by David Elkind This
book is primarily divided into two separate sections that address the different realities, or problems, concerning children growing up too fast. The first section is one that presents the reader
with a look at the many ways in which society hurries children along in their development. For example, the author speaks of how society, with its technology, is actually interacting
with kids at a very early age, and pushing a great deal of information on them that leads to growing up too fast. The author notes, in a chapter titled,
The Dynamics of Hurrying: Lapware, Brain Research, and the Internet, "Those who promote computer programs for infants, however, suggest that skills are what infants need to learn" (Elkind, 2001; 105).
Most people are quite familiar with commercials that seem to want to push teaching infants computer skills. But, in truth, as the author indicates, "What they need most is a
