about 8:45 a.m. when Flight 11, the American Airline flight that was originally going from Boston to Los Angeles, plunged into the northern tower of the Trade Center
(White & Wilkinson, 2001). A second plane, a United Airlines flight, would go on to collide with the southern tower of the World Trade Center 19 minutes later (2001).
It was at this point that the people knew something was wrong. One plane could be an accident, but not two. As the American people watched television, they heard that
up to eight other planes were missing. While it would be only two more that would go down-one on the Pentagon and another in a Pennsylvanian field-the frenzy would
soon be over. Yet, the fear of terrorism remained. Many lives were lost. The American people were in shock. The comparison to Pearl Harbor was inevitable. It was a
"sudden, shocking, sneak attack" ( "One Nation," 2001, p.B6) that was responsible for taking many thousands of lives . The event changed the course of history just as on December
7, 1941, when 2,388 Americans died at Pearl Harbor, that changed life in the nation forever (2001). On Sept. 11, 2001, thousands also died in the collapse of high-rise towers
