John resides primarily with his mother and stays with Dave and Jan every other weekend and half of all holidays. Sky lives with Dave and Jan and
spends every other weekend and some holidays with her father. Dave and Jan have scheduled their weekends so that the weekends that John is with them, Sky is also
at home so that they can develop as a family. The Browns live in Tauranga, New Zealand and the children attend public schools. Both Dave and Jan
work full-time and have a strong work ethic as well as a Christian belief system and a strong commitment to their family. Both Dave and Jan have identified the
importance of determining the well being of each of their family members and have sought help in bringing together their blended family. Though Jan and Dave report having similar
parenting styles and skills, they also stated that they struggle with balancing the needs of everyone involved. The parents have sought support in family counseling as a means
of expanding upon the skills they have in improving their family dynamic. Method The method utilized for this family is the introduction of a strengths-based approach, one that helps
the family identify the skills they already have and foster improvements by relating those strengths. In cases like the Browns, parents often struggle with uniting blended families and
find it difficult to meet everyones needs. In order to determine the areas that need work and identify concerns for the family an interview assessment was conducted that integrated
