was 2.5 years old. The following is an interview with Ronnie that provides an inside look into some of the areas of concern in dealing with gifted children, especially
in terms of Ronnies troubles communicating, troubles holding down a job and troubles applying his skills to everyday life. Ronnie was greeted by the interviewer and introductions were
made. Ronnie began the introduction by asking the interviewers educational level and the places that the interviewer attended. When I responded that I had graduated from a certain
high school, Ronnie was quick to correct me and remind me that I was graduated from that high school. Grammatical corrections occurred throughout the interview. The following is
a sample of some of the dialogue. Interviewer: Your mother told me that you began reading when you were very young. Do you remember any of that
time? Ronnie: Of course I do. Once one has developed reading abilities, cognitive development continues and memory progresses at an accelerated rate. I could read at a
7th grade reading level by the time I was four. I could read at a level that exceeded my parents by the time I was 10. Int:
Thats very impressive. Did you enjoy reading? Ron: Im not sure I thought about it that much. Int: How did your peers and others respond to
your language and reading? Ron: I had a friend when I was four or five, but my mother said we stopped playing together because I got bored.
