this sounds familiar, it should. It is the basis for many romantic films past, present, future. What makes each film distinct, of course, is the directors treatment of this age-old
scenario. In A Room with a View, the director, perhaps loses sight of the fact that happily ever after isnt always the expected outcome.
George Emerson stars in the film "A Room with a View" in which this passionate young mans heart beats with love for Lucy Honeychurch, a woman he meets
by chance, while she is looking for a "better view" in a room. She is a respectable young woman from a good family, who has been taken to Italy on
a grand tour with her Aunt, Miss Bartlett. Once in Italy, Lucy and her Aunt are very disappointed that their rooms do not
have a view, and end up switching rooms with George Emerson, whom they meet while at dinner. George, (Denholm Elliott) offers them the rooms he shares with his son. Lucy
and her Aunt decide to switch rooms and thus the meeting of George and Lucy. Her Aunt seems very reluctant at times for anything Lucy seems to enjoy, and at
times appears to be a prune. In one memorable scene, as the plot thickens, George is standing in the middle of a waving
field of grass when he kisses Lucy, most unexpectedly. He does not ask her permission, he just does it spontaneously and with passion. Lucy acts as though she doesnt know
what a kiss is. So she re-groups, as Miss Bartlett (The Loving Aunt), calls her back from the top of a hill to have some tea. How convenient. Lucys Aunt
