model that has the aim of improving IT project management processes and systems. To propose this we will use the same five stages
of CMM. If we consider the high kevel of failure in software development projects the need for management control and an understanding of what goes on at each stage is
essential to attain success (Jiang et al, 2004). The first level of the CMM and as such the first stage of our project management model is the stage where there
are few standard processes. The communication is ad hoc and there is no tracking system to keep a record of what has been done or by whom. This is the
stage which may be see at the very beginning of a project. However, many projects may not start from this low point as a project infrastructure may already be in
place. This is a beginning point and to move onto the next stage the project has to have an investiture in place what will allow the project to be
controlled and tracked. This includes the basics such as the development of the basic controls and the software. The project needs to have systems in place that will be capable
of projecting the costs of the project as well as the project timing and stages. These are all measures that prior to the implementation of IT would have been undertaken
during usual planning processes. Stage two is reached when there are these basic systems in place. Communication may still be lacking with little co-ordination between the different project groups.
This is a stage many current organization or projects become stuck at. This level of operation will allow a project to be completed, but the difficulty is in the way
