For Bundy, life was good, but he had a habit of finding victims, raping them, killing them, and sometimes even engaging in intercourse with the victims bodies. Bundy is someone who killed quite nonchalantly and was seemingly in control. Yet, behind the staunch exterior is a man who was troubled. Perhaps onlookers would think that to be the case, but Bundy was unusually cool and never showed remorse. Was Bundy a psychopath or an ordinary man who just enjoyed killing women? First, what did Bundy do exactly? At the time he murdered a number of women, the public was well familiar with his activities. His romp through history made a significant splash. He was infamous for his sexual perversion and the numbers of women that he killed. The murders took place during the 1970s, though some theorists speculate he started killing at a younger age. Bundy was arrested and convicted during the latter part of the decade. Hence, he terrorized a nation as the police looked for a madman who was committing a number of heinous murders. Of course, when Bundy was caught, it was likely a surprise that he was so well groomed, well mannered and looked rather ordinary. Lewis (1998) examines a variety of murderers, one of whom is in fact Ted Bundy. She reports that Bundys childhood was less than satisfactory and noted that his grandfathers treatment of his grandmother was not very nice and also that the grandfather kept a pornographic stash (Lewis, 1998). Bundy does claim that he probably did read too much pornography (Hare, 1998). Yet, Dr. Lewis (1998) does not claim that Bundy was sexually abused.
