The use of illicit drugs is at an all-time high in our country. Illicit drugs range from natural to synthetic,
from hallucinogenic to sedative. While drugs have been used since the beginning of mankinds history, the interest in modern times intensified during and in the years following the 1960s.
Synthetic drugs such as LSD and various derivatives of cocaine and many others joined the world of plant derived drugs which have been in use for centuries. Each
of these drugs, however, have specific physiological and psychological affects which present a number of concerns. Drugs such as methamphetamines (drugs otherwise known as speed, ice, crystal, or
even the "poor mans cocaine" (Toufexis 37)), methcathinone, and other hallucinogens, stimulants, and sedatives come replete with a number of problems, in fact, which bear analysis. Such analysis can
go a long way in dispelling the misperceptions and untruths associated with drug use in general. Of the many drugs of concern in
