Essay / Research Paper Abstract
A 5 page contention that one of the most effective
crime prevention methods when it comes to juvenile crime is harsh sentencing. By trying and sentencing violent juvenile offenders as adults we
accomplish two things: more severe punishment for the crimes and a greater degree of public awareness of the punishment that goes along with the
criminal activity. The result is that a violent offender is effectively taken off the streets and potential offenders are deterred to some degree
from committing crimes of a similar nature. Bibliography lists 8 sources.

It can be speculated that one of the most successful crime prevention techniques that we have at hand is in dealing out harsher sentences to juvenile offenders. For

Trying and sentencing violent juvenile offenders as adult is, of course, a highly problematic issues and one that carries with it many considerations in regard
to appropriate punishment and accountability. Numerous states, however, now allow that approach. Fifteen of these states now allow prosecutors rather than judges to determine whether a child will
