very few children still aspire to become the leader of their country? Why? When one stops to consider the increase in the media coverage of the Presidents role and the disparaging remarks which are made on a daily basis, it is no wonder that children have decided they would rather be baseball players or movie stars. George W. Bushs time in office has been constantly depicted as a negative one, however, this does not give the entire picture. His presidency has also been marked by great successes. Still, Bushs presidency seems to be continually marred by inconsistencies and internal problems, which leaves plenty of room for improvement. Though Bush is currently riding high on a wave of patriotism, a closer analysis shows that he is lacking in several areas. Of these areas of concern, states David Corn in his book, The Lies of George W. Bush, the domestic situation seems to be the direst(Corn 2003). Unemployment is still high in many areas which manages to effect other areas in the domestic arena. For example, people who are unemployed do not shop; they do not spend. Given this, then, the shop owners and retail outlets do not sell as much as they did before. The GNP drops and the country suffers. Taxpayers suffer because they have to foot the welfare bill to support those who are out of work. Secondly, the health care crisis did not go away with the War on Terrorism. In fact, if anything, the statistics show that there is a very large problem with the health care systems the way they are. In a comparison to other countries, the United States has the largest number of unwed minority teens in the civilized world(Mozes 2001).
