following scenario involves a husband and wife who represent the drinker and non-drinker respectively: Essay One: Non-drinker perspective I arrived at Steves Pub and waved to our friends
Carrie and Jake. We were meeting them there for drinks while we decide where to go for dinner. My husband Sam walked beside me. He drinks. I am an alcoholic
but I have been sober for fifteen years. I kiss Carrie and Jake on the cheek and then the bartender asks what we are having. "A club soda, please," I
say quietly. The bartender puts down a napkin and soon after a glass with bubbling water and a piece of lemon appears. My friends order wine and my husband orders
a Tom Collins. I look around. People are smiling and laughing. I overhear someone next to me who is obviously inebriated. She falls off of the bar stool and I
am reminded of the days when I would drink too. Because it has been so long, I am comfortable in bars, but today, as I witness this womans behavior, I
am reminded of myself. My thoughts are taken away from the present and I am thinking of my own past escapades. The smell of scotch permeates the air and I
think it is coming from her sweater and to top it all off, it begins to become unbuttoned! She turns to me and mumbles something unintelligible. My husband reaches over
