in some areas according to what the teacher might want for the assignment. The 2000 presidential election exposed some serious flaws in the U. S. electoral process. Because of
the problems raging within the prolonged battle for Floridas twenty-five electoral votes, the American people learned what has long been known by election officials; the fact that every election year
millions of American citizens are effectively disqualified from the voting because of "overcrowded polling places, poorly trained poll workers, confusing ballot forms, faulty voting equipment and inadequate voter education" (55).
According to the nonpartisan Center for the Study of the American Electorate, there were over 2 million ballots invalidated last year alone across the nation. The fact of
