"A New Order: Imagining life without illegal immigrants", there are several issues at stake in this discovery. The camps seem evenly split over the impact that a crackdown on illegal
immigration would have on the US economy and lifestyles. The argument is persuasive to an extent because nearly fifteen of the larger states in America employ a great deal
of the illegal immigrants. This accounts for much of the low wage agricultural and factory positions which form the foundation for the economy in these states. California, Texas and Florida
would most noticeably be damaged by the crackdown on illegal immigration. And, too, the laws are ambiguous, reports Dean. Because many of the immigrants barely speak the language, let
alone understand the bureaucracy of the system, many simply overstay their Visas and may, overnight, go from a legal to illegal status. The proposed law would make an inhumane law
more humane to those whose only crime is to want to work to better their lives and the lives of their families. The greater crime, it would seem, would be
to deport them back into a life where they cannot exist. When one stops to consider all of the various tasks that low wage workers fill, the ripple effect
could be catastrophic for many of the larger states in the nation. The fact that there are only fifteen of fifty states that employ most of the illegal immigrants belies
the fact that those fifteen states cover a great deal of land mass geographically speaking. This means that while those states may be impacted, in fact, the whole United States
economy would be impacted as well. Food prices would soar. Those states who utilize the immigrant population heavily, predictably, are arguing that a loss of low wage workers would cripple
