American exceptionalism. MULTI-PARTY SYSTEMS In order to better understand the inner workings of the political parties we must first realize that there exists now what is called a new
economy consisting of a growing more educated class of people while the working class is in decline. This means the newer class of people are those who are more
educated, more affluent and more flexible in where they live. They are also less dependent on the attachments to certain institutions. These new learning-class people will be interested
in seeing a government that is "attuned to their view of the world, which emphasizes creating opportunities, providing choices rather than formulaic solutions and investing in the nations intellectual capital"
(Loewy, 1998, 1B). There will be a decided change in the electorate as well as a shift from an industrial style workforce to that of a more technical and computer-inclined
workforce. This means there will be fewer voters with less than a high school education and that more voters will be coming from the upper to middle class (Loewy
1998). This brings us to the topic of forming multi-political parties in the United States. There are many that contend that more minority and specialty groups need to be
represented in their own way. African-Americans have long discussed the need for their own political party and it seems the time is ripe to seriously consider forming new alliances
within the political systems. The current way of thinking is that if one does not vote either Republican or Democratic that it is a wasted vote. No vote should
be considered a wasted vote, and there should be strong parties in the system that allow the citizens to vote however they so choose without it being considered wasted if
