of any new application will have barriers to use, which can be reduced with a design that meets with the psychological expectations and produces clues and visual stimulation to the
function of the different tools. The design here is a video and music player that has the aim of a user friendly
interface (Dowell and Long, 1989). This media player designed for non technical users, who may not be confident with the standard controls seen on many media players. The aim is
to make the use simpler and easier than media players which are already on the market. However, as confidence grows greater functionality is required such as the sending and receipt
of files, and these facilities need to be built in as well, to allow the user the level of functionality they require during the development cycle of the players use.
To meet this design brief the player has to have an easy to use player interface, advanced option and must also have a visual design that is easy to look
at and helps the users. The design of the media player need to meet many of the present expectations associated with the
various controls. This level of recognition helps with the interaction, as less challenges are presented for the easier tasks and as such interaction becomes smoother and less stressful. As
would be expected the play stop and forward buttons use the standard symbols for these functions. The forward button has the function of forwarding the video by twenty frames, regardless
of if it is playing or not. To make use of the player the user must be able to access the play lists. This is a simple task, moving
