great enthusiasm, with an inquisitiveness that is refreshing, and with adaptability, recognizing that different areas of study require different strengths. Jane has been able to define a point for
her educational focus, creating goals and direct her studies, while also being open to discovering new interests. For example, when the changes were integrated into her International Studies major,
requiring that she pursue courses in both economics and geography to complete the coursework for her major, Jane was willing to make the changes and suspend judgment that would have
hindered her ability to secure her major and complete the necessary requirements. Jane has also honed a number of important skills, including reading, writing, organizing and note-taking, all of
which are important skills that can be applied to different courses and can be used across different careers. As a result, Jane represents a master student because she demonstrates
the following six qualities of a master student: * inquisitiveness * willingness to change * ability to suspend judgment * ability to focus attention * willingness to discover new interests
* ability to learn skills that apply across careers Though Jane demonstrates these characteristics, she is not a perfect student. Jane has demonstrated specific strengths and weaknesses relative to
the learning process that are both demonstrated through the elements that determine her role as a master student and factors that can be improved upon by active participation in the
educational process. Janes strengths as a learner, then, include her personal motivation, her thinking skills and her ability to communicate. Her weaknesses, then, are her time management systems,
