                                                    George protects Lennie to an extent but also befriends him. The two go about their daily lives trying to make money just to get by. Yet, they do have dreams  
                                                
                                                    and that is the crux of the conflict.  	Lennie and George someday want to own a farm together and later on, another character wants to go in on it.  
                                                
                                                    Like so many other stories in fiction and in real life, drifters go about their workday while they dream of a better future. Today, the dream usually involves winning the  
                                                
                                                    Lotto. In fact, there are hundreds of Lennie and Georges in the world. In the story, these two simple men only have the desire for a normal life. They want  
                                                
                                                    to make money and they long for stability. Yet, in employing a Marxist analysis, one can see that there is more going on in the story. It is more than  
                                                
                                                    just two men and a dream. There is a phenomenon where there are people who are rich and people who are poor. These day laborers are obviously the ones who  
                                                
                                                    are trying to get by and are juxtaposed to the people who are willing to hire them. The landowners are the ones who are considered more in line with the  
                                                
                                                    rich group. While perhaps they are not rich as most people would think the term denotes, there is certainly a dichotomy present in this book.  	A student submits the
