short of what is generally thought or taught in the institutionalized religions in America and Canada. So, the question remains: Are there some types of media that the Christian should
abstain from supporting, viewing, or discussing? There are varying thoughts about what constitutes acceptable material, just as there are varying thoughts on the theology of Christ. What most seem to
contend, however, is that there must be a basic guideline for the average Christian to go by, in order to determine for oneself what to view or allow ones family
to view. The student should add in that any of these guidelines include such decisions as how the viewing of certain material might be judged by the non-believer, whether the
monetary support of a type of potentially questionable media only perpetuates the decline of the industry and thereby aids the degradation of morality, and lastly, what will be the lasting
outcomes to this action and could Jesus/God condone the activity? Some beliefs state that if the media viewed, in the case of the racy novel, or rented X-rated movie, harms
no one, then the use of the material is not considered objectionable. However, it can be submitted by the student, that harm is caused to the individual who is reading
or viewing the material in that it inaccurately portrays the relationship between a male and female that the Church upholds, primarily that pre-marital sexual encounters are outside the laws of
the Church. Note, that the student may want to stress that the censorship was placed by the Law of the Church and not necessarily by the Laws of God.
