which are faith, atomism, wishes versus reality, justice and equality, paranoia and the importance of family ("ARAB CULTURAL AWARENESS," 2006). Atomism refers to the idea that Arabs see the world
as piecemeal as opposed to a unifying force ("ARAB CULTURAL AWARENESS," 2006). Their religion is also highly regarded in the scheme of things. They value the idea of God over
the idea that human beings are in control ("ARAB CULTURAL AWARENESS," 2006). Arabs value tradition, equality and justice ("ARAB CULTURAL AWARENESS," 2006). Family is very important to them as
well ("ARAB CULTURAL AWARENESS," 2006). Yet, their treatment of women has been criticized a great deal. It may be true that the traditional family is seen to be important, but
it is also the case that some women are treated like chattel and they have few rights in Arab controlled states. During a military action, for example, American soldiers were
sent, but the female soldiers who were feared. Zeinert (2005) explains why this is the case: "Saudi leaders, fearing the influence American women might have on their nations women, did
not want them to enter the country" (p.26). In general, Saudi women are not allowed outside the home without chaperones and are required to keep their entire bodies covered at
all times whenever they are in public (Zeinert, 2005). This is very different from what American women are used to experiencing. Hence, there had been a fear of Americans not
because of their physical prowess but because of their liberal view of women. Ironically, the exposure has to some extent seen the empowerment of women in the Middle East. Of
