of the political nature of the World Wide Web and that it is replete with pornography, but the government really cannot control it. Freedom of speech issues often come
up but because the Internet is shared by the world, no government can really do anything to seize the net and implement ordinary law. Further, the government has not found
a way to tax it directly. This book is clearly needed in a society that is getting used to living in a world that is connected by computers. Throughout the
globe people are able to chat with one another, sell and trade merchandize, and violate laws of their own nation. There are many things that can be done online that
cannot be tackled in a different environment. When reading this volume one will find that it provides a great deal of information and is specific and on task. Some of
the contributors are quite brilliant. Others seem to miss the mark. The book is still one of the best on this subject and provides a springboard for discussion on this
very important topic. The articles contained in the volume all relate to the Internet and how the workings of Congress provide a significant impact on it. Each chapter speaks volumes
about the effects of the Internet and while some are negative, others are glowing. There is information on how the net has been used to shape the agenda of Congress
