burglary rates for the New York City and Cincinnati areas are vastly different. Of course, the New York City population is larger than that of Cincinnati. Interestingly, the statistics reveal
that the number of incidents that decreased were comparable. Of course, because there are many more incidents in NYC, the percentage change is not as drastic. In Cincinnati, this crime
decreased by 26% as compared with just 7.5% for New York City. It would seem that crime has decreased significantly in Cincinnati, but burglary seems to be on a declining
trend nationwide anyway. In fact, the notion that NYC statistics declined only slightly is somewhat disturbing, particularly since this city has been cleaned up immensely over the years and it
is one that prides itself on safety. It should be emphasized that burglary is a crime that is not necessarily a violent crime. No force is used. Rather, the
burglar enters a premises, or even merely trespasses on property, and takes what he likes. Still, when someones things are violated, it is often the case that the victims
feel violated. Hence, a drop in this type of crime, or any other crime for that matter, is certainly welcomed. In summary, in evaluating the crime statistics, it is
