Copper Sun. Im sure Mrs. King is proud of your effort and I know it would have pleased Dr. King as well. Although there has been a lot of progress
made toward equality, there is still much more to do, and there are too many people who seem to think that since the Civil War has been over for nearly
150 years, African-Americans should just "get over it." They fail to understand the psychological damage that systematic degradation can do to a person, or to a people. They need to
be reminded that living, breathing human beings were taken from their homes and enslaved, and then their plight was somehow twisted around to make it seem that it was their
fault, or that they deserved it. You have shattered this exquisite self-serving Southern illusion, and were all the better for it. The book is superb all the way through, but
I think the scenes I like best are in the very beginning, when you take us to the village of Ziavi and show us how Amari and her people live.
