you. This sounds incredible to you because this man--this false friend--has been so successful in poisoning your mind. The traitor in your ranks is Iago, not Cassio, whom you have
suspected as having an affair with your wife. In fact, Iagos subtle innuendo against both Cassio and your wife, Desdemona is false and a total fabrication. Before protesting, please,
finish this letter and keep an open mind. Iago has been skillful in manipulating you. An honest man would have accused Cassio and Desdemona outright, but Iago simply hinted that
he knew dark secrets, which naturally aroused your curiosity. He neither confirmed not denied rumors, which originated with him, as his first goal was to put a "chink" in your
self-confidence and your assessment of these two people (Omer and Verona 100). When Iago told you that it could not have been Cassio whom he saw talking to Desdemona because
Cassio would not "steal away so guilt-like/Seeing you coming" (II.3.34-40), he manipulated words to imply much more than he actually relayed. Iagos strategy was incredibly devious, he would make
an unexpected remark, as if to himself and not meant to be overheard, leaving you, Othello, intrigued and mentally disorganized (Omer and Verona 100). This indirect method allowed your imagination
to run free, projecting your darkest fears and conjectures about why a beautiful, high-born woman such as Desdemona would love your and become your wife. Iago has twisted and manipulated
