half a life to realize lifes truths, then God must have put all people on Earth for a purpose. Why do humans go through their lives lost and incompetent only
to realize that life has greater dimension and awe when their bodies are too old and tired to enjoy the knowledge? They look in the mirror and barely recognize the
people who are staring back at them. In truth, the clich? that youth is wasted on the young is true in one sense, but is not really accurate. There is
a purpose for youth, for fumbling, for learning. Francesco Petrarch has inspired this letter to you. If you do not know who Petrarch was, you ought to read his letters,
one of which is entitled Letter to Posterity where he wrote in the hopes of educating the youth. I too believe that this letter can serve as education. Petrarch (1999)
put it this way: "My youth was gone before I realized it; I was carried away by the strength of manhood; but a riper age brought me to my senses
and taught me by experience the truth I had long before read in books, that youth and pleasure are vanity---nay, that the Author of all ages and times permits us
miserable mortals, puffed up with emptiness, thus to wander about, until finally, coming to a tardy consciousness of our sins, we shall learn to know ourselves." His lengthy sentence succinctly
