1. Project Background In the nineteenth century Japanese Knotweed was introduced into Wales. Initially brought over as a decorative plant the invasive and destructive nature of the plant was not foreseen.
The growth of knotweed over the years has created a threat to the environment and a commercial opportunity for a company, or companies, with the relevant expertise and skills to
eradicate the land of the problem. With the threat and a desire to set up a businesses that creates a social as well as economic benefit, the idea is
to start up a business will the sole purpose of dealing with knotweed. This takes expertises as there is the need for treatment over a period of years. Business starting
up also need plans to set targets, raise funds and determine what level of business is required to create a profit. The project undertaken is one that will help
a student develop and practice many of the skills required in business analysis and business planning. The target id the creation of a clear, understandable and realistic business plan that
could be applied to a real life scenario without any adjustment. The development will need to be accompanied by learning and research, considering the range of relevant theories, such as
those by Minzberg and Porter. The aims for this is the acumination of learning as well as then being able to make use of the learning in a practical sense,
