real name was: The Beatles. Their silver screen debut was marked by their film called, "A Hard Days Night". This film, which served to introduce the Beatles to the United
States screaming teens, also served to show the cultural and social transformations that were occurring in Britain during the 1960s. In the mid-1950s, Britain was still reeling from the ravages
of the war, with shortages and austerity still part of daily routine. This was a grey time, with British youth consoling themselves with their dreams, and with pale imitations of
the delights and images which they saw on the big screen of life for kids in America. Very much like what will be done with Dylans tour, this movie follows
the Beatles as they prepare to go on tour, do television shows and hop from one place to another. Apparent in this film, however, is the attitude of freedom and
that unrestrained pulling away from the boundaries of the 1950s post war cynicism and materialism. This time was very much a shifting of attitudes as much as anything. Just
as the Romantic Era had challenged the stifling confines of the Classical Era, so too, came the Sixties to challenge the dogma of the Fifties. The sixties were characterized,
it can be said, by an exciting, revolutionary, turbulent swirl which included great social and technological change: assassination, unforgettable fashion, new musical styles, civil rights, womens liberation, a controversial and
devisive war in Vietnam, the first man landing on the moon, peace marches, Worlds Fairs, flower power, great TV & film, and sexual freedom(Beatles, 2002). For the first time in
