that feelings are important and that they need an outlet. After an introduction, the book is broken down into three sections. The first explores what a crisis is exactly and
the various stages that an individual might encounter. The second section talks about getting through a tragedy, and provides relevant ideas to cope. If the coping mechanisms fail, and people
continue their despair, section three offers additional advice. In other words, if the suggestions in section two do not help, there is more. Suicide is one topic addressed in this
portion of the work. In the first section called The Anatomy of a Crisis, there are three parts: The stages of heartbreak, characteristics of a crisis and How People survive
adversity. In the last part, the author relays the fact that many people survive and become seriously crippled and writes: "You would expect to see depression in the eyes of

parts and seems to be the meat of this book. The first part is entitled Preserving Your Health in Tough Times. This part begins by suggesting that people should take
care of their health and then goes right into a story of someone being diagnosed with cancer (Veninga, 1985). Advice provided is along the lines that there are people who
care and can help such as doctors and friends and family (Veninga, 1985). It is also good advice to tend to ones appearance and health in order to feel better.
