a firm to develop, manufacture, and deliver products or services to its customers. Additionally, the financial resources include debt, equity, retained earnings, and so forth. In determining the physical resources
we would include the machines, manufacturing facilities, and buildings firms use in their operations. The Human Resources include all the experience, knowledge, judgment, risk-taking propensity, and wisdom of individuals associated
with a firm, while organizational resources include the history, relationships, trust, and organizational culture that are attributes of groups of individuals associated with a firm. This is in addition to
a firms formal reporting structure, explicit management control systems, and compensation policies (Barney 49). Walmart has experienced a tremendous growth rate in recent years. In fact, Wal-Mart has continued
bombarding their competition with their super stores, even incorporating grocery stores into their newer structures. Consumers were thrilled with the opportunity to be able to do all their shopping
at one location, while at K-Mart, for instance, they were lucky to find one out of three items on their list, and even that was ultimately wrongly tagged. To
put it plainly, other competitors could not compete with the progressive ideals that were so prevalent within the Wal-Mart operation. Important analyses that can be utilized when comparing
the statistics of companies are those of time-series analysis (company) and cross sectional analysis (industry). This will help the student determine which company historically has performed the best and
