The actual cultural prominence of the song, in addition to the above indicators of its fiscal success, can be seen in measurements such as the fact that the songs music
video currently has more than 2 million viewers on YouTube, as well as a greater than 90% approval rating (LMFAO, 2011). While the song itself represents the same materialist and
sexist view that is typical of much popular culture, an interesting inversion occurs when the song is considered juxtaposed next to the cultural artifact of its music video. In the
song, singer Redfoo regales the listener with examples of his dominating sexual appeal ("everybody stops and is starin at me"), and repetitious appeals to his value vis a vis his
appearance ("girl, look at this body / I work out!"). At first glance, the video seems to be a literal interpretation of this theme. It begins with Redfoo and his
friends strutting down a beach boardwalk, attracting the attention of both women (who tend to be amazed) and men (who tend to be jealous and resentful) alike. Redfoo makes a
gratuitous spectacle of removing his pants and thrusting his genitals at everyone on the boardwalk while repeating the songs main hook: "Im sexy and I know it". This confident proclamation
inspires antagonism in another of the boardwalks top social figures, and he instigates a conflict with Redfoo and his friends that culminates in a sort of battle cum social ritual
