to make some point, to illustrate the inherent needs and positions of women. In examining various works and authors this paper discusses Henrik Ibsens "A Dolls House" and Kate Chopins
"The Story of an Hour" and "The Storm." The paper summarizes each one individually and then provides a comparison and contrast of the three. A Dolls House In
the beginning of the story of Nora we see a somewhat shallow and easily led young woman. She is perfectly content to exist in a world where her position as
a woman in nothing more than that of being a wife and a mother. "Nora is the beloved, adored wife of Torvald Helmer. He is an admirable man, rigidly honest,
of high moral ideals, and passionately devoted to his wife and children" (Anonymous The Scandanavian Drama doll.html). Nora essentially worships her husband, as any good wife should do, and "believes
in him implicitly, and is sure that if ever her safety should be menaced, Torvald, her idol, her god, would perform the miracle" (Anonymous The Scandanavian Drama doll.html). So, when
her husbands life seems threatened Nora does the right thing by forging her fathers name and getting money to assist her husband. All seems simple enough, but this act, this
independent decision, gave Nora the power to see her position and the possibilities. Nora slowly begins to see that her life is nothing and that she has, thus far,
wasted it. She tells her husband, "I mean I passed from fathers hands into yours. You settled everything according to your taste; and I got the same tastes as you;
